5th International Symposium on RCC Dams:CRSRI's Participation

The 5th International Symposium on Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) Dams was held in Guiyang, China on November 2~4, 2007. Liu Ning, the Chief Engineer of Ministry of Water Resources of China, Luis Berga, the President of International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD), Jia Jinsheng, the Secretary General of Chinese National Committee on Large Dams and Ren Xiangsheng, the Secretary of the Party Group and Vice-Chairman of Association for Science and Technology, Guizhou Province, China, made speeches for the General Assembly. The aims of conference were that discussing together the latest development of RCC dams, celebrating RCC dams technology had been applied for 30 years and researching the future direction of RCC dams.

More than 450 experts and scholars came from 34 countries, such as Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Morocco, Australia, Iran, etc. attended the symposium. 142 papers were communicated at the symposium. The Materials Department of Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute submitted 5 papers to the General Assembly. The authors of papers, Wang Shuyin, Cai Shenghua, Qin Lili and Xiao Kaitao, were invited to participate in the symposium.

At this symposium, Longtan Gravity Dam of China, Miel I Gravity Dam of Colombia, Miyagase RCD Dam of Japan, Olivenhain Gravity Dam of the United States, Ralco Gravity Dam of Chile, Rialb Gravity Dam of Spain, Salto Caxias Gravity Dam of Brazil and Wolwedans Arch Dam of South Africa won the “International Milestone RCC Project”.
